• The Liberals will allocate $400,000 to stock WA toy libraries.

• Eighty toy libraries eligible for grants of up to $5000.

• Quality toys to support children’s skill development and imagination.

• Cost saving for families across the state.

Under a WA Liberal Government, thousands of families across Western Australia will benefit from a $400,000 grants scheme to better stock toy libraries.

Toy libraries have become valuable resources for many WA families struggling with cost-of-living pressures, trying to reduce waste or wanting access to educational and developmental toys.

WA Liberal Leader Libby Mettam said the 80 toy libraries that operate across the state, including 38 in regional areas, provided invaluable play and education resources to thousands of children at very minimal cost.

"Most toy library memberships cost around $2 a week, which makes them a very cost-effective way for families to access an incredible range of quality toys,” Ms Mettam said.

"This is a brilliant service which I had the benefit of using when my daughters were much younger.

"Every parent knows how quickly children lose interest in toys yet through toy libraries, parents can have an almost unlimited stream of new entertainment on hand for very little cost.

"Under the WA Liberal initiative toy libraries across WA will be able to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to purchase new stock for their libraries.

WA Liberal candidate Bronwyn Waugh said the toy libraries that operate in South Perth provided local families a range of quality fun and educational toys, games, puzzles and activities.

"Toy libraries have a special emphasis on choosing quality toys that are designed to support children’s skill development and imagination,” Ms Waugh said.

"There are more families than ever in South Perth currently struggling just to make ends meet which puts these types of toys firmly outside their financial reach.

"To be able to access these toys for just a few dollars a week is a real saving for families.”
