• $5m to develop a business case for Stage 2 of Albany Health Campus.

• Long term planning to deliver critical upgrades to the region’s health infrastructure.

• Part of the WA Liberal Plan to fix a broken health system, outlined in Building a Better Future blueprint.

A Mettam Liberal Government will commit $5 million to develop a business case for Stage 2 of the Albany Health Campus, according to Libby Mettam.

“Albany deserves more than Labor’s election-year band aids,” said Ms Mettam.

“Instead of temporary fixes, the WA Liberals will commit to a proper, structured, and fully funded master plan to ensure Albany Health Campus has the infrastructure, workforce, and service capability it needs for the long term.

“This isn’t just a policy, it’s a priority – this is a personal issue for our local candidate Dr Tom Brough, who has worked on the frontline of healthcare in Albany and knows firsthand the damage caused by Labor’s failures.

“Tom’s firsthand experience means this commitment will get more than lip service; it will get done.”

Albany Health Campus is the primary healthcare facility for the Great Southern region, servicing a large regional population with increasingly complex medical needs. Despite its critical role, the hospital has suffered from a lack of strategic planning and investment, leaving staff, patients, and the wider community grappling with capacity and service constraints.

For years, the need for a comprehensive master plan for the hospital has been raised by medical professionals, community advocates, and the Opposition who has been consistently warning since at least 2022 that the campus was reaching crisis levels.

“In Perth, they would never allow sick children to share a ward with dementia patients, but under WA Labor, that's exactly what's happening in Albany,” said Ms Mettam.

“This is about giving dignity to the Albany community and about getting our priorities straight.

“The Cook Labor Government talks about record surpluses, but they can't deliver basic specialist services to Albany – how do they expect to staff another 30-bed pop up ward?

“Roger Cook failed as Health Minister, and now regional healthcare is in tatters.

“Albany deserves a representative that fights for them and government that plans for the future, not one that scrambles to cover up its failures every election cycle – only Tom Brough and a Mettam Liberal Government will deliver.
