Plan for Health - Reducing wait times and delivering better outcomes

Our plan is to deliver Western Australians across our state the healthcare system they can trust.

Every Western Australian deserves timely access to quality healthcare, yet under the Cook Labor Government, our health system is in crisis.

Patients are waiting years to see specialists, ambulance ramping is at record highs, and frontline healthcare workers are stretched beyond their limits.

Communities across Western Australia are demanding real investment in healthcare, improved hospital services, and meaningful support for our doctors, nurses, and paramedics.

Instead of fixing these problems, Labor has neglected our health system, failed to address critical workforce shortages, and allowed waitlists to spiral out of control.

The WA Liberal Party is committed to ensuring every Western Australian can access the medical care they need when they need it.

We will reduce wait times, invest in healthcare infrastructure, strengthen emergency services, and support our frontline workers with better conditions and resources.

Unlike Labor, we will take decisive action to deliver a health system that works — one that puts patients first, supports our healthcare professionals, and ensures no Western Australian is left behind when it comes to their health.

Only a WA Liberal Government will deliver it.

What we will do.

The WA Liberals believe Western Australians deserve a healthcare system that puts patients first, supports frontline workers, and ensures access to world-class medical care — no matter where they live.

Under Labor, the health system has spiralled into crisis.

Ambulance ramping has reached record highs, elective surgery waitlists have surged, and critical hospitals have been left outdated and underfunded.

Labor’s mismanagement has failed patients, overburdened healthcare workers, and left families without the care they need.

A WA Liberal Government will take real action to fix Western Australia’s health system and deliver better outcomes for patients and healthcare professionals.

We will follow expert clinical advice and deliver a tri-located Women’s and Babies Hospital to ensure the best possible care for mothers and newborns.

Labor’s failure to get this project right has put the lives of new-borns at risk, and we will correct their mistake to ensure a state-of-the-art facility that meets the needs of patients and medical professionals.

To hold Labor accountable for its failures, we will establish a Royal Commission into the mismanagement of WA’s health system, uncovering the full extent of the crisis and ensuring the same mistakes are never made again.

No Western Australian should have to wait years for vital surgery.

We will implement an Elective Surgery Guarantee to ensure patients receive procedures within clinically recommended timeframes, clearing the backlog that has ballooned under Labor’s watch.

Ambulance ramping, which has hit record highs and left patients waiting hours for emergency care, will be addressed through real solutions, including better patient flow management, hospital capacity upgrades, and emergency department reforms to get ambulances back on the road faster.

As one of WA’s major hospitals, Royal Perth has been neglected for too long.

We will redevelop and modernise Royal Perth Hospital to expand capacity and deliver high-quality care for those who need it most.

Access to healthcare should not depend on your postcode, which is why we will strengthen regional health services by improving the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme and invest in new and upgraded healthcare infrastructure in rural and remote areas.

Our nurses and frontline healthcare workers are the backbone of the system, yet under Labor, they are overworked and undervalued.

Western Australians deserve a government that will invest in workforce retention strategies, improve working conditions, and ensure that nurses, paramedics, and other frontline staff receive the support and resources they need.

Only the WA Liberal Party will fix the health system by delivering real reforms that prioritise patients, support medical professionals, and rebuild confidence in healthcare across our state.
